Chester, Virginia is located about halfway between Richmond and Petersburg on CSX's North End Subdivision. This is a busy line hosting more than 2 dozen freight trains and 8 Amtrak passenger trains each day, including Amtrak's AutoTrain (PO52/53) and CSX's "Juice Train" (Q740/741). Radio communications also include trains traversing CSX's Bellwood, Peninsula, and Rivanna Subdivisions in and around the Richmond area. Buckingham Branch operates westward from AM Junction in downtown Richmond. | | Carson, Virginia is located on CSX's North End Subdivision between Petersburg and the Virginia/North Carolina state line. Most of the same trains traveling between Petersburg and Richmond on CSX also pass through Carson. In addition to CSX, trains on Norfolk Southern's Norfok District can be heard as they pass through and around the Petersburg area. |
