Welcome to the NS Harrisburg Line, Reading, Pa.

This stream covers the heart of Norfolk Southern's Harrisburg and Reading Lines at Reading, Pa. Norfolk Southern's Harrisburg line runs between Philadelphia and Harrisburg. Norfolk Southern's Reading line runs between Allentown and Reading. At Reading's CP Dunkle, the two lines converge combining westbound traffic from both Philadelphia and Allentown/North Jersey. Around 50 trains per day operate on these two lines making Reading an NS hotspot. NS uses three three frequencies on this line which are:

NS 9527 at CP Wyomissing Jct.
  • 160.860 - Harrisburg Line
  • 161.070 - Reading Line east of CP Blandon
  • 160.980 - Reading yard

In addition, The Reading and Northern interchanges with NS at Reading yard and operates on 160.310 mHz. The Reading and Northern can be heard primarily at night as their train from Port Clinton to Reading arrives around 8pm.

Action on the NS can be heard from MP 81 (Myerstown) to the west on the Harrisburg line to MP 17 (Topton) to the east on the Reading line and south on the Harrisburg line to MP 48 (CP Bird). HB/DED detectors which can be heard are found at MP 79.9 (Myerstown), MP 64.6 (Sinking Spring), MP 60.9 (CP Wyomissing Jct, MP 56.1 (CP Titus), and MP 46.9 (Monocacy) on the Harrisburg line and MP 0.8 (CP Blandon) on the Reading line.

Action can be heard at all times but the busiest time is between 10pm and 8am where over half of all train running on this line converge on Reading.
