The state capitol of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg has long been a crossroads of transportation. From the Pennsy through Norfolk Southern, one thing has remained constant: Harrisburg is a key terminal for Norfolk Southern's operations in the northeast. This stream covers radio traffic from within the busy Harrisburg Terminal, which can see upwards of 100 movements on busy days. From yard transfers to hotshot stacks, Harrisburg has it all. The area includes such historic landmarks as Enola Yard and Rockville Bridge as well!


The primary radio channels to monitor all the action in the stream are:
160.980 NS(CR) Road4 The Harrisburg Terminal Dispatcher covering all moves into and out of the terminal.
160.860 NS(CR) Road3 NS Harrisburg East Dispatcher controlling movements east of CP Tara (MP 104.2 on the Harrisburg Line) Also, traffic entering the Buffalo Line at CP Stoney (MP 302 on the Buffalo Line) northbound can be heard calling signals on this frequency.
161.070 NS(CR) Road2 NS Main Line Dispatcher covering all moves into and out of the East end of Enola Yard and greets them as they enter the "Port Road".
161.445 NS   Enola Yard...covering operations within this landmark and historic yard.
160.635 Amtrak "State" covering operations within Amtrak's Dock Street Yard and Harrisburg Yard, as well as Amtrak's Keystone Line east to ROY interlocking.

  • MP 6.8: MP 6.8 on the Lurgan Branch
  • MP 300.0: MP 300.0 on the Buffalo Line
  • MP 122.6: MP 122.6 on the Pittsburgh Line
  • Cove DED: MP 116 onthe Pittsburgh Line

Anytime is train-time in Harrisburg with the convergence of so many lines, however, traffic is more hectic during the days with frequent switching moves in the terminal.
