FYI that due to the major winter storm hitting the Western North Carolina Mountains tonight and tomorrow (Jan29-30) my home could very well lose power (and thus the stream/computer would lose power). If the stream does indeed go down I will have it back up as soon as power is restored. The National Weather Service is predicting anywhere from 12-18 inches of snow in this area over the next two days. I was able to keep the stream running during the December storm that dropped 12".....but we never lost power. I will do my best to keep the stream up and running over the next 2 days. The stream is located on the east side of Asheville near Azelea, NC and hosted by Grady McKinley using the RailroadRadio server. Please check out the Forum dedicated to this stream for additional info pertaining to this stream. Current areas covered are Norfolk Southern's "S-Line" from Salisbury to Asheville & on to Morristown, TN. The stream is also covering the Spartanburg Sub on CSX from Spartanburg, SC to Laurens, SC. They operate from the coalfields to Asheville via the S-Line from Leadvale, TN & Bulls Gap, TN and are taken to Skyland Power (Arden) in two segments from Asheville Yard. These are usually symboled P89 & P90 when the use the T-line, but they can also be symboled 784 & 785 on the T-Line as well. 900 series rock trains run from Tennessee to Asheville, and then are taken to the Quarry by a local crew. From time to time these trains also come from Salisbury, but that's a rarity. 500 series (i.e. 57Z, 54A, 51Z are grain movements even numbers are EB & odd numbers are WB) Also from time to time you will hear 400 series grain trains (i.e. 44N 40T etc..) 700 series trains are coal movements (i.e 73R, 72R). Again even means EB and odd means WB. All coal running via Asheville originates in the coalfields and comes to Asheville via Bulls Gap, TN and a connection with the S-Line at Leadvale (Douglas, TN).
The Asheville, NC radio stream covers the action in & around the Asheville, NC area. The S-Line comes into Asheville from the east (Salisbury) and then heads west to Morristown, TN where it junctions with the line from Bristol to Knoxville. Also heard are the W-Line (a.k.a. Saluda Line). The W-Line sees coal traffic to Arden, NC and a local to Hendersonville, NC. Also the T-Line to Sylva, NC sees locals & rock trains to a Vulcan Quarry at Enka, NC.
